To those who made it out last Thursday, thanks a million for being part of the first ever Sydney On Tap public craft beer tasting! We had a great time.
For those who don’t know we decided on 5 beers to review: Holgate Mt. Macedon Pale Ale, Willie The Boatman Todd’s Trailer Ale, Young Henrys Hop Ale, James Squire Hop Thief and finally Young Henrys Newtowner.
Here are the scores!
5th: Young Henrys Hop Ale
“Chocolate overtones” – Suni
“3 beers in you accidentally ordered it, it's not usually your thing but you're in the mood to try new things.” - Jeremy
“Essence of liquid hand soap” - Anthea
“Not too outlandish, not too boring. A beer you could take home to mum” - Jeremy
3rd: Willie the Boatman Todd’s Trailer Ale
“Has a longer after taste, it lingers in my soul” - Emma
“Tastes like peanuts and I like peanuts” - Ishan
2nd: James Squire Hop Thief
“What a steal! (Steal not indicative of price)” – Pat A.
“A beer for people who hate beer” – Laurie-Anne
1st: Young Henrys Newtowner
“Close to converting me to a regular beer drinker” – Emma
“The classic holds up” Pat A.
To be honest these were exactly the results we expected when we chose the beers we were tasting. Glad everyone had a good time, looking forward to seeing everyone (and any newcomers) again at the next one!
