The August Pub Tasting...

9/1/2015

Comments

The August public tasting was even bigger than the last! As always cheers to everyone who came out and judged the beers with us, it was a lol-and-a-half.
There were a lot of strong opinions and pictures of dicks on the score cards this time. We loved all the beers equally but some were more equal than others. And with that, here are the results!
5th: James Squire 150 Lashes Pale Ale
Look – 2.8
Smell – 2.1
Taste – 2.2
Mouth-feel – 2.3
OVERALL – 2.3

“Ehhhhh dry and makes my mouth sad, but not intolerable” – Belle
“I thought I liked this beer but tonight it threw that trust in my face. Judas deserves these 150 lashes” – Jeremy

4th: Shenanigans Winston Pale Ale
Look – 2.6
Smell – 3.3
Taste – 2.7
Mouth-feel – 2.9
OVERALL – 2.8

“Winston with an ‘ew’ ” – Rob
“Strange clash of sweet and bitter, like music. Like a.. Bitter sweet symphony..” – Pat

 3rd: Akasha Freshwater Pale Ale
Look – 3.3
Smell – 3.1
Taste – 3.1
Mouth-feel – 3.4
OVERALL – 3.3

“Florally, confusing, intriguing *drawings of flowers*” – Nadia
“The freshest watter eva!” (spelled with 2 t’s because Jack misspelled it on the score cards, what a fool) - Nikita

2nd: Stone & Wood Pacific Ale
Look – 2.7
Smell – 3
Taste – 3.3
Mouth-feel – 3.4
OVERALL – 3.4

“I think that Jack guy owns the brand” – Lindsay
“I love you Stone & Wood” – Jack

1st: Young Henrys Real Ale
Look – 3.7
Smell – 2.7
Taste – 3.2
Mouth-feel – 3.1
OVERALL – 3.5

“Nope, too dark. Omg I don’t know, second time around it tasted better” – Devindi
“Like it a lot, even compared to Austrian beer!” – Nina the Austrian

Again, thanks to everyone who came we had a great time throwing this shindig. Cheers also to the great staff at the Botany View Hotel who somehow managed to serve something like 150 beers to us in the space of roughly 20 minutes.

Gentle plug; if you haven't yet, check out the official Sydney On Tap Facebook and Instagram!
